Last week I made a statement here that survival is the instinct that drives the engine of the human experience. I said I would continue that discussion this week. I want to say now that this instinct is not our basic instinct, it is simply the instinct that drives the engine of the human experience for most of us.

A few years ago a handful of extraordinary men revealed to us, once again, what our basic instinct is. And it is not “survival.”

We began a discussion here about what I’ve called The Fractured Self. We looked at how we sometimes split ourselves into two or three different people, just to please the world, just to “get along,” and sometimes, to be truthful, just to get something that we want, and so, to please ourselves.

Then we talked about what it would take to put our Fractured Selves back together again. And the first thing we began focusing on was...honesty.

It seems to me that life continues to be an unfolding mystery for nearly everyone. There have been, and are now, true Masters holding all the answers, knowing every solution, and living life in ongoing peace and harmony (no matter what was or is happening). So we know that reaching such a level of personal and spiritual development is possible. Indeed, we have been promised this by every great religion.
